Data Sources and Verification

Every published fact points to an official page and a verbatim passage from it, checked on the live page.

Last updated 13 October 2026

Sources we publish from

  • Official websites of schools and their parent universities: program, admissions, fees, curriculum and clinical-training pages and catalogs.
  • National education ministries and higher-education agencies, and their official lists of licensed institutions and programs.
  • Medical councils and regulators, and their lists of recognised schools or programs.
  • Medical-program accreditors and their published decisions and directories.
  • Official national admission portals and official gazettes.
  • Current WFME and ECFMG/Intealth publications, for agency recognition and Sponsor Notes.

Discovery sources are not evidence

To find candidate schools we also use secondary lists, including Wikidata (released under CC0). Nothing from a discovery source is published until it is confirmed on an official source. We respect each source's access conditions. The terms of the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS) do not permit copying, scraping or mirroring its content, so we do not import it; school profiles link visitors to WDOMS to check a listing themselves, and a WDOMS reference appears on a profile only when it has been individually confirmed. Rankings, agents' and recruiters' sites, forums and encyclopedias are never used as evidence.

How a fact is verified

  1. A researcher records the official URL and copies the exact passage that supports the fact, in its original language.
  2. An automated check fetches the live page, reduces it to its visible text and confirms the passage is there. Pages behind bot protection are never bypassed; facts we cannot check stay unpublished.
  3. Only facts whose passage was found (or that an editor confirmed against the official source) appear on the site, each with its source and verification date.
  4. The source host must belong to the school, its parent institution, or an official public body. Facts from other hosts are rejected.
  5. A new value that contradicts a verified one is not applied silently; it opens an editorial review.

Country-by-country research workflow

  1. Identify the authoritative discovery sources for the country.
  2. Compile candidate schools.
  3. Confirm identity, operating status, primary medical qualification, actual campus and awarding institution.
  4. Research recognition and accreditation, programs, language and entry; tuition, deadlines and clinical arrangements where published.
  5. Save sources, deduplicate, publish.
  6. Reconcile gaps against the discovery sources: every candidate becomes a record, an exclusion with its reason, a possible duplicate or an unresolved item.

Countries are processed in neutral geographic and alphabetical order. A country is never described as complete because every row of one list was imported. Coverage by country.

Logos and campus photographs are used only with a recorded source, licence and attribution (for example freely licensed files on Wikimedia Commons, or images supplied by the school). We do not present unrelated campuses or generated images as a school's facilities. Image credits.
